“Dancing Polytechnic”- Festival of Friendship and Creative Work

On November 13, 2015 the annual contest “Dancing Polytechnic” was held in the International Cultural Centre where TPU students showed their choreographic talents.

The repertoire of the contest was remarkable for energy, variety and novelty of dance styles. 34 contest items were presented to the jury. The participants were fairly divided into two groups - “Professionals” and “Amateurs” in the nominations “folk dance”, “contemporary” and “street dance”.

The jury consisted of Popko Elena, a head of TPU Volunteer Centre, an acting director of the International Cultural Centre, Podlevskaya Maria, a producer of the theatrical performances, holidays, concerts in Tomsk, Reshetova Raushan, a winner of many contests such as “Dancing Polytechnic”, “University Steps”, “Tomsk Student Spring”, “Student format” festival, Sulema Ekaterina, a professional dancer, choreographer, instructor of Sport Dance Club “Diamant-TPU”, Karnaeva Darya, a laureate of all-Russian sport aerobics contests, Hramtcov Andrey, a laureate of all-Russian and international contests, an instructor of “Movement” dance studio , Avdyushina Ekaterina, a choreographer, stage ballet-master, plastic arts director.

TPU foreign students participate in this contest and win prizes every year. Xiang Yang, a postgraduate of the Institute of Cybernetics performed the item “Robot” in the popping* dance style. As usual foreign students of Dormitory 19 won applause for their bright and energetic performance. Abailim Christian Izunna together with Mongolian and Russian students excited the audience from the very beginning. The dancing performance “Friendship” of Mongolian students’ group should also be mentioned because it didn’t remain the guests indifferent.

Besides, Russian students of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication and the Institute of Power Engineering showed their choreographic talents. Shuvalova Maria and Kinderkneht Yanina, Shamin Sergey and Yurjev Dmitriy performed a classical waltz that was full of tenderness.

The jury has to make a difficult choice and the results will be announced on December 10, 2015 at TPU International Cultural Centre.
