Tomsk Polytechnic University in 2015 plans to train more students from China

On the 25-26th of October the annual largest international educational exhibition "China Education Expo-2014" took place in Beijing, China. Delegation of Tomsk Polytechnic University participated in this exhibition. This year 4 universities of Tomsk took part in the exhibition with support of Tomsk Oblast Administration as part of programme Study in Tomsk. Foreign universities as well as lead universities of Russia were presented at the exhibition as part of programme of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation 5-100.

As it was noted by Vyacheslav Erokhin, acting director of the Institute of International Education and Language communication (IIE&LC), during the visit to China, 124 students were admitted to joint educational programmes realized by TPU in partnership with Jilin University and Shenyang Polytechnic University. More than 150 Chinese pupils provoked their keen interest in TPUs educational programmes and gave their contacts to TPUs delegates during the work of exhibition and in the course of TPUs presentations made at the secondary schools of Peoples Republic of China.

Both parents and pupils expressed their genuine interest in TPUs educational programmes realised in the English language, as well as in scholarships for international master and post-graduate students, and courses of the Russian language at Summer and Winter Schools organized by IIE&LC, as Vyacheslav Erokhin specified.

According to TPUs delegates, the number of exhibition visitors exceeded all expectations. The flow of visitors interested in studying at TPU was unrelenting during a two-day work of the exhibition. The main issues potential applicants from China were concerned about were safety and security in Tomsk, conditions of studies and accommodation in students hostels, possibilities of academic exchanges, and educational programs costs.

TPUs delegation plans to hold a series of presentations at the largest universities and schools of China, and a number of other significant events including meetings with the Consul General of the Russian Federation in the city of Shenyang, Rectors of Shenyang Polytechnic University and Dalian Polytechnic University, Head of Department of Education of Liaoning, Director of Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, TPU graduates and student recruiters in China.
