On 4 October, 2014 the Institute of International Education and Language Communication in cooperation with Tomsk Office of the Union of the Chinese Students in Russia held the festive event devoted to the National Day of the People's Republic of China 65th anniversary on the premises of International Cultural Center of TPU.

Alla N. Balovneva, Deputy director for language and cross-cultural communication, Van Gokhun, Director of Confucius Institute at Tomsk State University, Doan Tkhi Kam Chyeu, chairperson of Tomsk branch of the Vietnamese Student's Association in Russia and Batbaatar Dulamsuren, Chairperson of the Mongolian Association in Tomsk came to congratulate students on a national holiday. The Tomsk Office Chairman of the Union of the Chinese Students in Russia, Zhong Yang gave a speech on behalf of all Chinese students.

"I am very glad that the students did a good job and managed to demonstrate their talents! I am under fascinating impressions!" said Zhong Yang after the concert.

This year the programme has appeared to be diverse: from traditional and modern music and dancing performances to Chinese gymnastics t'ai chi ch'uan and citing sayings of Confucius from "Longyu". The audience was pleasantly surprised with the way Li Xue, the TSU student, was playing the Chinese classical violin erhu. The duet of IIE&LC students, Elena Valekzhanina and Gao Chao, who sang the song in non-native language gladdened the teachers of Russian and Chinese.

- I really liked the event atmosphere, everyone helped each other, there was a lot of excitement, it was very cheerful! The National Day of the People's Republic of China is a very important holiday for all Chinese residents! Moreover, this year the date is round - 65 years. There is a "golden week" in our homeland now; all people have holidays, go out for travelling,- the Master student of IIE&LC Zeng Shuangshuang, the chief production director of the concert, shared her impressions.

It is worth mentioning that this year the sophomores from China have been very active and decided to participate in the concert. All in all, it was a very good experience for them to become members of the TPUs international students' brotherhood.

-The concert opening and closing ceremonies were thought over thoroughly because they were very important parts of the event. I suppose, we did an excellent job! Besides, I want to give special thanks to our technical assistant the Institute of Cybernetics student Zhang Tszintsze. He was kind to prepare a presentation as well as photo and video materials for the concert.

The Chinese students showed excellent teamwork - the student chorus of Shenyang Ligong University of 20 people sang the national song about their homeland. The concert ended with mass student dance.

- I wish all Chinese students lots of health, good luck and progress in study. Wherever you are, always remember your homeland - China. It is our state that gives us the opportunity to study here, in Russia, - wished Shuangshuang to her compatriots.

- On this wonderful day I would like to wish all Chinese students who study in Tomsk academic success and a happy students' life. I wish my homeland the perspective future and happiness and health to all residents! - Zhong Yang expressed his congratulations on the holiday.

The event was held within the development program of TPU students associations activity TPU Student Council Your Way to Success.
