The final events of the VIII All-Russia Review Contest of Scientific and Creative Works of International Students and Post-Graduates took place in the International Cultural Centre of TPU from April 23 till April 25.

Once again this event gathered together talented young people from all over Russia who are ready to share their achievements and ideas with the broad audience. This year more than 400 applications were submitted to the organizing committee of the Contest. Students and post-graduates from 45 countries represented 36 Russian universities at the Contest including Universities of Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Omsk and other cities of Russia.

Participants and guests were congratulated by: Nikez Yao Adu, Chairman of the Association of International Students of RF, who visited Tomsk for the first time; A.B. Pushkarenko, Head of Department for Higher Professional Education of Tomsk oblast Administration; T.S. Petrovskaya, Deputy Vice-Rector for Educational and International Affairs of TPU and M.A. Sonkin, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and Innovations. The organizers also received greetings from I.G. Klein, Mayor of Tomsk, A.A. Volkov, Rector of the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and S.A. Zhvachkin, Governor of Tomsk oblast, who gave the following speech:

Dear friends! It is already the eighth time that the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University holds the All-Russia Contest of Scientific and Creative Works of International Students and Post-Graduates of Russian Universities. It is not coincidence, since our TPU having a more than centenary history is beloved and popular among students from the near- and far-abroad countries. Young people from 40 countries of the world study at Tomsk universities. We are proud of that and do our best for the more and more talented young people from all over the world to select safe and comfortable student city of Tomsk for study. I am sure that the VIII Contest of your works will become a sound base for professional, scientific and personal development. It is great that you will get this impulse on the Tomsk soil. Venture, create and believe in yourself, and we will support your most ambitious and unexpected undertakings.

The fact that new universities and countries join the Contest every year and the information about it disseminates further and further, proves that it is a really important event in life of international students of Russian universities. Many participants who came to the Contest for the first time say that they learned about the event from their friends who had already visited Tomsk and tried their hand at the Contest of Scientific and Creative Works.

I came to Tomsk for the first time and was surprised by a warm welcome. The organizers proved heavy responsibility in their work, says Prokich Milan, a student of the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, holder of grand prix of the Contest and of special prize from the Tomsk oblast Administration. Last year I participated remotely, but having attended the Contest, I recommend everyone to make sure to come and perform in person next year. I would like to thank the organizers and participants for their effort. I hope the Contest will develop further.

The organizers received many serious and talented works as it always has been. Technical, economic and humanitarian reports have been represented by participants at the Conference. Creative works, such as collection of costumes of the fashion house Zhanym (Chelyabinsk State University), sparkling performance of M. Shmerkos poems About Mother by Dolgor Zan (Omsk State Transport University), design of unusual furniture by Tonoyan Suren (TPU), and touching poem about a girlfriend by Osia Alpheus Ebitimi (TPU) have been represented in creative parlor that was held in the dance hall of the International Cultural Centre.

Annually, a round table is held within the Contest. The aim of the table is to unite people from different countries, help them overcome negative stereotypes and open themselves to the outside world. This year the theme of the round table that has been organized already for the eighth time was Public Initiative of International Students in Russian Universities. Every year it has more and more participants, new directions appear debates and social performance that covered the problems of public life and complex issues, to which all participants tried to find the answer together

Besides, this year the virtual exhibition of scientific and creative works has been organized for the first time, and, anybody who wanted, received an opportunity to have a look at each work on the web-site and vote for the one he/she liked.

The All-Russia Contest came to an end, but just as in the previous years, the participants take home new impressions, new knowledge and new ideas.

Positive response of participants and organizers allow making a conclusion that this year the Contest of Scientific and Creative Works of International Students and Post-Graduates of Russian Universities achieved its objective to unite people from different countries with one common idea to establish multicultural scientific and creative space.
