The Student of TPU IIELC Traveled on the Friendship Train around China Cities

Leila Khafizova, a student of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication of TPU took part in the Friendship Train 2013 – a project of Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) which includes leading technical universities of these two countries.

In order to start an exciting trip around China cities, students of Russian technical universities met in Beijing with a student of Tomsk Polytechnic University among them. Thanks to the knowledge of Chinese and English and openness for communication, Leila turned to be in the thick of things and was a presenter at some events.

“Our Friendship Train passed the following route: Beijing – Harbin – Dalian – Shanghai,” Leila Khafizova tells. “In each of these cities, we, Russian students, performed concerts for our Chinese friends. Students from each participating university prepared creative numbers, as a result all this turned into faerie show with dances and songs.”

Russian students were met very hospitably in China – there were arranged excursions for them in each of the cities and speeches of Chinese professors and students of technical universities.

“The train deserved the name of the Friendship Train, since our trip was constantly accompanied by various games, joint film viewing and just interesting talks,” Leila tells. “I was lucky not only to get acquainted with a great many people from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, and other cities of Russia, but also to meet old friends, including TPU students, studying in Dalian, and graduate students of the specialty “Translation and Translation Studies” working in Shanghai. That was invaluable.”

In Harbin Russian students also had a meeting with the Shuguo Wang, Rector of Harbin Technical University. He presented commemorative plates with the event symbol to a representative of each university. TPU received acknowledgment from the Russian and Chinese colleagues for preparing to the events of the Friendship Train – 2013 and taking an active part in them.

It should be mentioned that the first train set off in October of 2012. Back then, Chinese students of technical universities visited a number of Russian universities and showed bright concerted numbers.
