RUSSIA IN NAMES AND DATES
The XIII All-Russia Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language passed under such title from November 20 to November 23 of the year 2013 on the basis of the People’s Friendship University of Russia.
Tomsk Polytechnic University was worthily represented on the Olympiad by foreign students Purev Munhgerel (group 11B10 of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Technologies), Conan Cesar (group 2B12 of IIELC/INR) and Pham Thi To Uien (group 153B21 of IIELC) under supervision of Svetlana Igorevna Sheveleva, Senior Teacher of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of IILEC.
Our students managed the competition tasks successfully (writing an essay on the specified theme, representing a presentation project). They were awarded diplomas of the Olympiad participants, and the student Pham Thi To Uien received a diploma for the best presentation project.
The performance of TPU students on gala concert that concluded the Olympiad events was met with hearty unanimous applause of spectators – organizers and participants, representing 26 Russian Universities. Purev Munhgerel, Pham Thi To Uien and Conan Cesar in bright eye-catching national costumes performed a foot tapping dance routine.
TPU foreign students will remember the trip to Moscow not only thanks to taking part in the events organized within the frameworks of the Olympiad, and excursions around the city with sightseeing in the capital of Russia, but also thanks to pleasant unexpected meetings. Purev Munhgerel met a fellow countryman in the capital, a childhood friend, and Conan Cesar met his countryman he got acquainted and made friends with on the All-Russian Fair for Scientific and Creative Works of International Students, annually taking place in TPU.
In the letter of gratitude in the name of Rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University, signed by Vice-Rector of the People’s Friendship University of Russia for Scientific Work, Professor N.S. Kirabayev, it is said that TPU students proved high level of the Russian language, history and Russian culture. High level of the Russian language teaching in TPU is mentioned and the hope to continue cooperation is expressed in the message.
