Ph.D. Student from Iran is the First to Become a Candidate of Science in the History of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language!
November 15 Ahmadi Abdolmajid defended a thesis “Traditions of Masked Comedy in the Russian Literature of the 1900-1930th” on the specialty 10.01.01 – “Russian Literature” for the academic degree of Candidate of Science in Philology on the dissertation council of the Ural Federal University in the Name of the first President of Russia B.N. Eltsin.
The thesis has been prepared on the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication under supervision of the Doctor of Philology, Assistant Professor and Professor of Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, N.V. Serebrennikova.
It is the first defense of a thesis performed by a foreign Ph.D. student in the history of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of IIELC.
Ahmadi Abdolmajid was born in 1984 in Ghaemshahr (Iran). In 2007 he graduated from Mazandaran State University in Iran on the specialty of “Translation and Translation Studies of the Russian Language”, and in 2009 completed a master’s degree programme on the faculty of foreign languages in the University of Tehran on the specialty “Russian Language and Literature”. Since 2009 Majid has been studying on the post-graduate programme of TPU.
The members of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language also made their contribution to successful defense of the thesis, especially Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor M.A. Khatyamova, Candidates of Sciences in Philology, Assistant Professors V.V. Maksimov, D.N. Volodina, I.I. Tyurina, and Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language E.V. Mikhaleva.
Ahmadi Abdolmajid finalized the thesis taking into account suggestions and proposals expressed by reviewers during preliminary discussion in the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and defended a worthy research.
The defender implemented a solid piece of work, collected comprehensive material including archival one. Ahmadi Abdolmajid started a complex under-investigated theme and has done a big job, attached a system nature to it, displayed self-sufficiency, performed necessary translations of critical-literary articles, and showed capabilities for further creative growth.
The thesis of Ahmadi Abdolmajid can become a basis for establishment of special courses on different linguistic and literary directions and intercultural communication.
