64th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China
October 7, 2013 a concert devoted to the 64th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China took place in the International Cultural Centre of TPU.
This year, students and employees of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication organized a really unforgettable event: the guests of the festival could see wonderful dance routines, listen to amazingly beautiful songs, get acquainted with the sounding of a musical instrument “erhu” (or Chinese violin) and even enjoy the hymn of the People’s Republic of China. Students from different countries and popular student teams took part in the concert.
A song of amazing beauty under the title “Do svidaniya, severnyi sneg” was performed by the 4th year students – Zhang Lie and Li Shuo Wen. A storm of applause was aroused by a performance of a Vietnamese-Russian band “Druzya” - they performed 2 songs, including a modern hit song of Adele “Rolling in the deep”. As always, a lively dance of TPU Company “Afu-rumba” made the day. “Otrazhenie” gave a wonderful performance with a song “Rozovyi tuman”. First year students, future translators, pleasantly surprised with a musical present: they performed a song “Rastsvetaet tsvetok slivy” in Chinese.
Before the concert one could attend the exhibition of Chinese art, get acquainted with a unique calligraphy mastership, and admire unusual national painting.
The day was marked by many congratulations and wishes. Alla Nikolayevna Balovneva, Deputy Director of IIELC for Language and Intercultural Communication greeted the audience having mentioned a solid relationship connecting Russia and China: “I’m glad that our students do not forget their Motherland and take an active part in such a great festival”. Jung Yang, Chairman of Tomsk Division of the Union of Chinese students in Russia, thanked concert organizers and participants and congratulated everybody in Russian and Chinese languages.
An honored guest of the festival, Yang Fang, noted that it was very pleasant for her to be present at such event and congratulated everybody on behalf of the colleagues and students from the Confucius Institute of TSU. An interesting video-congratulation was received from the students of the Union of Chinese students in Siberia from Novosibirsk.
The awarding of the winners of phonetic contest coincided with the event. IIELC students – future translators received diplomas of the first, second and third degrees as well as presents for their performances.
The concert ended with a song “Poyu o rodine” performed by a student chorus of Shenyang University in honor of their beloved country.
