September 29 a charitable concert devoted to fund-raising for post-surgical treatment of TPU student from Mongolia took place in TPU International Cultural Centre.
TPU student Norzhvanchig Amarbuiant came here from Mongolia and studies on the specialty of Heat Power Engineering. He is a smart, talented and active fellow who is always willing to help. But it so happened that now he is in need of help and support: he is under rehabilitation after complex surgery in Tomsk far away from his home and family. Therefore, the Community of Mongolian Students in Tomsk with support of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication organized a charitable concert in which students and teachers – representatives of Tomsk Universities took part.
Batbaatar Dulamsuren, chairwoman of the Community of Mongolian Students in Tomsk gave an opening speech. She talked about simple and very important for each person things: need to do good, desire to help the near fellow and aspiration to unite. “This charitable concert is the confirmation of our joint aspirations”, she said.
The concert has really demonstrated the unity of Tomsk multinational student community in their desire to support a friend: everything went fine! There was national Mongolian music performed by Vandansangi Batmangnai, TSUAB student, on Morin Khuur – national musical instrument, a lively dance of African students (“Afurumba” company from TPU), and wonderful songs of students from the vocal team “Otrazhenie” (TPU). There were even world stars: TPU and TSPU students provided their presence in the International Cultural Centre that evening. The parody number performed by students helped the viewers to see Shakira and Nataly, Alla Pugacheva and Philipp Kirkorov, Korean rapper Psy and Dima Bilan on the Tomsk stage…14 bright and unforgettable numbers were prepared by students to support Norzhvanchig Amarbuiant. The emotional tension was overwhelming! The finishing stroke that united all performers and the audience was the song with symbolic title “We are the world”.
“We are different, but there is one rule in the culture and ethical norms of each nationality: deep problems can be settled only jointly”, said N.I. Guzarova, Head of Preparatory Department of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication. “Norzhvanchig Amarbuiant is a diligent, goal-oriented young man with stiff and virile character. I think he will manage these problems as well and we will help him”.
This thought was confirmed by Mr. Amarbuiant’s brother who was present at the charitable concert and thanked everybody for cordial engagement and family support.
A.N. Balovneva, Deputy Director of IIELC for language and intercultural communication gave a speech in support of students’ initiatives: she told about traditions of holding charitable actions in TPU and noted that such projects teach us humanity and real friendship: “A friend in need is a friend indeed”, “Misfortune unites” – I believe representative of any nationality can join these Russian proverbs”.
The idea of friendship and solidarity was supported by A.V. Faerman, acting Head of academic and social work of IIELC: he proposed to express the support to Mongolian student by applause. The audience applauded unanimously – and each and everybody felt their belonging to a united multifaced and multinational family.
Alongside with the concert a charitable fair was organized: souvenirs, handicraft implemented in conventional national technique, as well as food prepared by students. All funds derived from sales came to the relief fund for Norzhvanchig Amarbuiant.
“25 thousand rubles were collected – a very nice result of the event”, said Yuliya Kirillova, project coordinator from IIELC. – “Such results became possible thanks to Community of Mongolian Students that exists as part of TPU since 2011 and unites over 100 people so far – representatives of different Tomsk universities. The work of this public association has always been notable for cohesiveness and high-level organization. So, this time they also prepared for the concert very diligently, held rehearsals every day and took this work as something natural, without any pomposity and sensation – which is very pleasant and symbolic for our student town”.
It is remarkable that the event was held in the International Cultural Centre of TPU – center of cultural life of the most “multinational” university of Tomsk. “As always we found support of Administration of International Cultural Centre for student ideas and projects and we were provided with all conditions for charitable action”, - said A.N. Balovneva. “I would like to thank employees of International Cultural Center on behalf of the organizers, and all those who provided success of this event and took part in the project”.
The event is over but the action continues, say coordinators of the charitable concert. The donations to the relief fund for our student Norzhvanchig Amarbuiant are accepted in room 423 of the 19th building of TPU till October 4. Each of us still has time to join the action, help a friend and feel oneself involved in small but very important and significant affairs.
