Lecturer Robert Bosh Foundation will teach German language in TPU

One more native speaker – Mara-Lisa Kuhlau will teach German language to students of Tomsk polytechnic university. She was appointed for work at the university in 2013-2014 academic year by Robert Bosh Foundation. Miss Kuhlau will teach German language at the Institute of International Education and Language Communication of TPU (IIE&LC TPU).

Also the lecturer will offer consultations to polytechnicians on the issues concerning education and living in Germany, and will take part in implementation of the Russian-German projects within the Program "Regional Center for German Language and Culture of TPU". This program coordinates activity of the German partners of Tomsk Polytechnic University and is successfully realized in IIE&LC already for five years.

“Miss Kuhlau is already the fourth foreign expert in TPU from Robert Bosh Foundation. This fact testifies to successful and long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between TPU and the Foundation, – says Deputy Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, Director of IIE&LC and Head of the project "Regional Center for German Language and Culture" Tatyana S. Petrovskaya. – On the one hand, lecturers raise the level of their professional qualification, gaining experience of teaching and working on projects. On the other hand, the lecturer as the native speaker increases language competence of students of TPU, by means of project activity sparks the interest to language and culture of Germany, enriches university life, makes a contribution to the international dialogue".

In the closest plans of the lecturer – realization of a number of cultural and educational projects within the Program "Regional Center for German Language and Culture of TPU”, which celebrates this year the fifth anniversary. All projects are designed on raise the academic mobility of students, attraction of talented youth to TPU and popularization of German language and culture in the region.

Mara-Lisa Kuhlau has planned master classes on writing motivation letter and the curriculum vitae for submission of documents for the international grants, debate clubs in German language, celebration of Catholic Christmas, a film lecture hall and other useful events.

Cooperation between TPU and Robert Bosh Foundation lasts from 2008. Thanks to the Foundation the university annually visit German experts who participate in teaching of students and TPU staff improve their skills in Germany. In August, an employee of the Language Center of IIE & LC Alexandra Icenko visited the city of Stuttgart, where she presented TPU in Summer Academy of the Foundation.

Summer Academy of Robert Bosch Foundation is an international meeting of representatives of Russian and foreign universities with lecturers and the leadership of the Foundation. The Academy aims to familiarity lecturers and university representatives, also giving lessons to lecturers in teaching methods of German as a foreign language and in technologies of project management.

“For us, the representatives of the universities, Summer Academy of the Robert Bosch Foundation is a great opportunity to see a new lecturer for the first time and to plan further joint activity in TPU for the next academic year in a private conversation with her”, - says Alexandra.

Along with the planning of joint activities of universities and lecturers, for universities representatives from different countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) within the Academy seminars on the lecturer program of Robert Bosch Foundation, internationalization strategies, academic mobility, methodology and didactics of teaching foreign languages at the university are hold.

Robert Bosch Foundation is one of the largest corporate foundations in Germany. It was established in 1964 and represents the philanthropic covenants of Robert Bosch (1861-1942), founder of the eponymous company. The highlights of the Foundation are education, health and international relations.
