The Society of Russian-Vietnamese friendship visits “The star of Bethlehem”

This summer the Society of Russian-Vietnamese friendship invited 19 students from Tomsk polytechnic university to visit Russian orthodox camp “The star of Bethlehem” located on the bank of the river Ob near Urtam village, Tomsk region.

On the 17th of July TPU students arrived to the camp. The camp hosts welcomed foreign guests kindly – they showed their tents, refectory, recreation ground and church in the open air. Afterwards the camp head with the children gave a master class in sky-jumping and fire-fighting sport. Besides, there were other sport activities: pillow fights, sack racing, rope rugging, etc.

Vietnamese guests returned their favour in the evening – gave a concert and presented toys among the campers.

This joyful gathering left such a deep impression in hearts of both campers and students from IIE & LC, and they decided to get together again. On the 31st of August a group of Vietnamese students arrived to the camp for the second time. Guests and little hosts conducted football and volleyball competitions, a tourist contest, staged Russian fairy tales, enjoyed the performance of a dog breeder with a German shepherd.

IIE & LC authorities express thanks to the camp “The star of Bethlehem” for its kind and sincere welcome, and hope that similar projects will help Russian children to learn about people from various countries and foreign students to adapt to the Russian culture much easier.
