Egyptian teacher will study alternative energy within postgraduate program at TPU
Ahmed Ibrahim is going to get a postgraduate degree at Tomsk Polytechnic University. Since October 2015 Ahmed was having a language training at preparatory courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students within the unique program developed at TPU. This summer Ahmed has successfully passed all final exams and now he is preparing to study at the Institute of Power Engineering.
Ahmed obtained Bachelor's and Master's degree Diplomas at Zagazig University. Zagazig is located 76 km away from Cairo.
"Power engineering or rather alternative energy sources is my research field. I’m going to study methods of electricity generation from wind power at TPU", says Ahmed Ibrahim.
Nowadays development of alternative energy sources is one of the most essential scientific fields in Egypt.
"Our main task is to learn how to convert energy from natural environmental sources into electricity inexpensively and in large quantities. It is also one of the safest and most environmentally friendly ways of electricity generation", Ahmed Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, conditions for the development of such technologies in Egypt are quite favorable - sunny climate, and windy in deserts.
"You will probably ask me why I decided to leave hot, sunny country and move to Siberia? Firstly, I believe that Tomsk Polytechnic University is one of the best Russian universities. It is prestigious to study here. Secondly, TPU has a very profound power engineering school. It gives not only fundamental knowledge but also applied sciences. There are many good teachers and modern laboratories. It is worth studying here".
From October 2015 to June 2016 Ahmed has been studying at the preparatory course of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication within the unique program that prepares international students for studies at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
"I could not say a word in Russian when I came to Tomsk. Now I speak fluently and I can understand Russian without an interpreter. I believe it is my great achievement. I also studied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Philosophy and other subjects. I had to study very hard. I even lost some weight during this time ", says Ahmed. In my free time I like to play football and tennis. Every Sunday I spent in the University gym with students from Vietnam who also came here to study Russian. We became good friends during that time. We went to the cinema together to watch movies in Russian and even walked around Tomsk."
After all final exams Ahmed is going to spend the rest of summer in Egypt, and in September he will continue his studies in Tomsk.
