On June 15, 2016 TPU foreign students planted an apple tree saplig in the Lilac alley and dug out the wish capsule left for them by IIE&LC graduates in 2015. This year 150 foreign students from nine countries will graduate from TPU.

The Lilac alley is situated in the yard of University building 19 (Usov street, 4a). It appeared in 2005, when the first trees were planted by the alumni from Cyprus, Malaysia, India and South Korea. Now every year University graduates who came to Tomsk from different countries plant one tree in the alley. The first apple tree was planted last year and the graduates left their wishes for the next generation of alumni. Yesterday the graduates dug out the time capsule, they were wished academic achievement, successful work search, wealth, creative inspiration and patience.

This year students from China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Cameroon, India, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Thailand and Côte d'Ivoire will graduate from TPU.

A graduate from Bulgaria, Petkova Petinka says: Ill get Masters degree in Economics and company management in oil and gas industry. I was interested in this specialty and think that Siberia is an appropriate place to get good education in this sphere. Here I got acquainted with people from different parts of the world, itsimportant experience. Now I have to choose whether to pursue my postgraduate studies at TPU or come back to Bulgaria.

Its the first time a student from Thailand has got a TPU diploma. Pudpady Kittya is from Nonthaburi, she came to Tomsk to get Bachelors degree in bioengineering: I wanted to learn about Russian culture, cuisine and people. In fact, there isnt enough information about this in Thailand. At present I can also start my postgraduate studies or come back home.
