15 May 2016 TPU Students Participated in All-Russian Session of "The Association of the Foreign Students" in RussiaOn May 3-6, 2016 Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) hosted the 6th All-Russian Session of "The Association of the Foreign Students" in Russia (the AFS). TPU students from Mongolia and Vietnam also took part in the session. Bayaraa Gantsetseg, a Mongolian third-year student of the Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Technologies, TPU, Dam Thi Ngoc Trinh, a Vietnamese fourth-year student of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication, TPU and Tsevegmed Gantuya, a Master's Degree first-year student of the Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Technologies, TPU were among participants of the 6th All-Russian Session. Beside 800 foreign and Russian students, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Federal Migration Service, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), diplomatic representations accredited in Moscow took an active part in the session organization. Members of the board of trustees of the Association met on the first day of the session. Vladimir M. Filippov, rector of RUDN University, Adu Yao Nikez, president of the AFS, and Gabriel Anicet Kochofa, ambassador of the Republic of Benin in the Russian Federation opened the meeting with a welcoming speech. Ambassadors of the Middle East countries, Africa, Latin America, Asia, Madagascar and Indonesia also congratulated the guests on the session opening. There was a bus tour around Moscow at the end of the day. The guests visited such places as Red Square and Sparrow Hills (Vorobyovy Gory) and admired the architecture and beautiful sceneries of the city. The next day was devoted to foreign students. They could participate in the Olympiad in order to test their knowledge of the Russian language. Students could show not only their intellectual but also physical abilities. Bayaraa Gantsetseg, a Mongolian third-year student of the Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Technologies, TPU took the 2nd place in some kinds of sports activities. An international feast “Southwest Planet” was held in front of the main building of RUDN University. Foreign students and guests showed the culture of their native countries. A festive concert devoted to the twentieth anniversary of the AFS was the final chord of the session. Students prepared songs and dances of different countries and nations. The results of the Olympiad and sports activities were announced and the winners were awarded. “Firstly, the session gives me an opportunity to examine my knowledge and try my strength. I have become the only silver medalist among girls this year. Secondly, I have met a lot of interesting people here and found friends. I like the bus tour also because it was the first time I have been to Moscow”, commented Bayaraa Gantsetseg. “It was pleasant to hear from the president of the AFS that Tomsk is a smart city being in step with leading universities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The president sent his regards to Tomsk people and said that he was planning to come to Tomsk”, said Tsevegmed Gantuya. Reference: The All-Russian Session of the Association of the Foreign Students in Russia was held within the joint program framework aimed at the development of the activity of RUDN student associations in 2016 with the Association of the Foreign Students in Russia supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The aims of the session are to develop the activity concerning rights and interests protection of the foreign students in Russia, provide support to such students while adapting to educational, social and cultural environment of Russia, advance the understanding between young people from different countries, broaden the knowledge of foreign students about the Russian language, culture and traditions and promote healthy lifestyle of foreign and Russian students.
