TPU Student from Vietnam Won All-Russian Online Festival devoted to 71st Anniversary of World War II
Doan Thi Hoa Hue, a third-year student of the Institute of Humanities, Social Sciences and Technologies, TPU won the All-Russian Online Festival for foreign students, postgraduate and internship students devoted to the 71st anniversary of the World War II (1941-1945).
The festival was organized by Tomsk State University on the threshold of Victory Day. The program of the festival included two nominations – dramatic reading (poems or prose works) and vocal performance (songs singing).
Doan Thi Hoa Hue and her scientific supervisor Marina E. Bokhonnaya, an associate professor of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, IIE&LC chose the nomination “Dramatic Reading”. The student prepared the video to
“We prepared the poem by Musa Jalil «Chulochki». The problem of “Children at war” is under consideration. The war doesn’t have any nationality or citizenship. It’s a universal evil and grief, the war is impersonal and nonsocial. Children and war is the most terrible combination. It should be mentioned that the video was prepared by the student”, commented Marina E. Bokhonnaya.
Foreigners of 14 universities of Russia and Turkey sent videos for the contest. They shared their views on famous war songs and poems.
The jury pointed out some contest criteria – independence, clarity, verbal intelligence, expression and originality. Finally, Doan Thi Hoa Hue, a Vietnamese student of TPU and her work became the winner of the nomination “Dramatic Reading”.

Online Festival for foreign students on the threshold of Victory Day has been held at TSU for the second time. It is a creative contest for students from different countries, for whom the Russian language isn’t a mother tongue, but an instrument of professional communication. Tutors of the Faculty of Philology and the staff of the International Student Services Centre took part in the festival organization.
