Indian Applicants Competed for Studying at TPU
The Olympiad within the program framework “It’s time to study in Russia” has been held in Chennai. The winners will get free education at leading Russian universities, including some Specialist and Master’s Degree programs at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
TPU became a program coordinator of “It’s time to study in Russia” event in 2016. TPU delegation has recently held some educational activities and meetings at universities, colleges and schools in Chennai within the program framework.
About 500 pupils took part in all stages of the Olympiad for talented Indian applicants. Such educational institutions as IIT Madras, Anna University, Hindustan University, VELS University, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Boston International School participated in the competition.
The courses offer two Specialist Degree programs – “Information Security” and “Economics” and two Master’s Degree programs – “Informatics and Computer Science”, “Nuclear Physics and Technologies”. In addition TPU provided Indian students with 10 quotas for two Master’s Degree programs in English – “Bio Science and Engineering” and “Nuclear Power Installation Operation”.
TPU delegation met Heads of educational institutions and discussed the development of Russian and Indian grant projects and some issues concerning student recruitment for short-term scientific internships at TPU.
“The organization of educational process and investigations in Nuclear Physics and Aeronautics on the basis of TPU is of great interest for Indian educational institutions. The development of a new Master’s Degree program in English “Aerospace Engineering” and short-term scientific internships for Indian students are of current importance”, noted Lyudmila Larina, member of TPU delegation and Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education and Language Communication.
At present, about 4000 foreign students from 50 different countries study at TPU.
“It’s time to study in Russia” is an international program initiated by activists from 15 leading Russian technical universities which participate in the program “5-100-2020” of the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs and Russian Ministry of Education and Science. TPU is one of the participants of the BRICS Network University and Russian-Indian Association of Universities and it became a program coordinator in 2016. The event organizer from India was the educational company “Study Abroad” directed by S. Ravichandran.
